Vintage Hijiri Gama Japanese Blue White Square Scallop Dish 16cm

A blue and white square dish by Hijiri Gama, a Japanese studio pottery maker, 16cm across with gently scalloped corners and a gold rim line. The decoration is in the Chinese-influenced Japanese tradition: a lattice border with floral cartouches around the rim, and a central panel with a botanical motif — bamboo grass and lily-like flowers in two tones of blue on white. The painting is accomplished and assured throughout. Marked to the base with the Hijiri Gama studio seal. Good vintage condition, no chips or damage. Dimensions: 16cm square. Estimated date: Mid-to-late 20th century.
