Vintage Studio Pottery Vases Pair Jamaica Sinclair Style Carved Stoneware

£27.00Price
Quantity

A pair of handmade stoneware vases by Sinclair Ceramics, Jamaica, in two complementary forms — a taller sculptural piece and a low, wide vessel. Each is wheel-thrown in a warm sandy stoneware and finished with deeply incised decoration. The taller vase features bold diagonal carved lines wrapping around the body, while the smaller piece has a radiating, fan-like pattern across the shoulder. Both are finished in a matte, textured glaze in rich ochre and brown tones, with darker recessed lines that emphasise the carving and give a strong sense of depth. Sinclair Ceramics was a Jamaican studio pottery active in the mid-to-late 20th century. Pieces are relatively uncommon in the UK, making this a distinctive and collectible decorative pairing. Together, the contrast in shape and pattern creates a balanced, sculptural display, equally suited to shelf styling or standalone statement pieces. Condition: Good vintage condition overall, with light age-related wear consistent with studio pottery. No major damage. Measurements: * Tall vase: approx. 16cm height * Small vase: approx. 8.5cm height Date: Circa 1960s–1980s
